Mayor Brown is increasing police patrols in the City of Buffalo following the rash of violence lately.

In the past 12 days, 13 people have been shot in the city.  Six of those people have died, including a 16-year-old girl.

The shootings have officials looking at the city's homicide count for the year.  It currently stands at 57, with one victim yet to be identified by Buffalo Police.

In comparison to this year, there were 47 homicides last year in Buffalo, 55 in 2010, and 39 in 2000.

The mayor's office says patrols will be increased in the areas where shootings have taken place recently.  A spokesperson for the mayor said it's common practice to increase patrols in response to violence.
