Man identified in crash that injured two college students

An Amherst man, involved in a crash that injured two college students, has been identified.

7 Eyewitness News has obtained paperwork from the Buffalo Police Department which states 40-year-old Eric Genau was charged with DWI in connection with the February 9 incident in the 100 block of Winspear Avenue.

Police say two women, ages 21 and 22 years old, were struck while trying to cross the street around 11:30 p.m.

Both students were taken to ECMC at the time of the crash. One had been treated and released. The current condition of the second student is unknown at this time.

Police say Genau was given a breathalyzer and registered a 0.14 BAC. According to the police report, Genau told police he had a "few glasses of wine" at a local restaurant before the crash.
