TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WKBW) — Tonight, Wednesday, begins the demolition of the pedestrian crossing bridge over Sheridan Drive in Tonawanda.

The bridge, located between Colvin Boulevard and Delaware Road, has been closed since 2016 due to safety concerns.

Work will begin at 10 PM, at which Sheridan Drive will be closed from Colvin to Delaware. Detour signs will assist motorists to find an alternate way around.

The road will reopen at 6 AM. Work is expected to take two days.

The removal is being done while schools are on break so that there will be little disruption for students.
