BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — A Tonawanda man will spend 25 years to life behind bars for the murder of his girlfriend.

Mario Turner, Sr., 51, of the Town of Tonawanda was sentenced Thursday before Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan.

Turner was convicted of fatally shooting 49-year-old Renee Taschetta in their home on Dumas Place last April.

A jury found Turner guilty last month on one count of Murder in the Second Degree.

Erie County District Attorney John Flynn commends Town of Tonawanda Detective Captain Joseph Fennell and Detective Thomas Moore for their working during the murder investigation.
