NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Niagara Falls man could spend the rest of his life in prison after investigators say they discovered a potentially explosive situation inside his home.

28-year-old Jeffrey Richards was indicted Tuesday on a long list of charges, including everything from drugs to guns, to possessing an explosive device.

It was back on December 14, 2018 when law enforcement raided Richards' home on Packard Court in Niagara Falls. At that time, officers say the recovered acetyl fentanyl, fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, alprazolam, approximately ten firearms, various rounds of ammunition, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and an improvised destructive device. Officers say they also recovered various items used to make explosive devices.

In a bizarre turn of events, severe SWAT team members became ill after that raid. Investigators were never able to pinpoint the source of that illness.

If convicted, Richards could face anywhere from 15 years to life in prison and a fine of $5,000,000.
