Springville teen pleads guilty to firing several shots into home, injuring sleeping child

COLLINS, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Erie County District Attorney's Office says a 17-year-old boy from Springville has pleaded guilty to charges in relation to a shooting that injured a seven-year-old boy in the Town of Collins in February 2020.

According to the DA's office, on February 18, 2020 the 17-year-old offender fired several rounds from a rifle at a home on Main Street in the Town of Collins. The seven-year-old boy was sleeping inside the house and was hit in the upper leg area by a bullet that went through the wall. He was transported to Oishei Children's Hospital for treatment.

The 17-year-old boy pleaded guilty to the highest sustainable charge Monday, one count of assault in the second degree. He faces up to seven years in state prison, his sentencing is scheduled for October 13, 2020.

He remains in custody on $5,000 bail, officials say his name will not be released due to his age.
