FARNHAM, NY (WKBW-TV) — Josephine Battaglia is not afraid of a challenge. What's puzzling is how she got hooked on her jigsaw puzzle hobby. She says "I was bored."
Once she started doing puzzles she couldn't stop. She says "Friends and family kept giving me puzzles for birthdays, Mothers Day, Christmas."
Jo says she started with puzzles that had three or four hundred pieces and adds "I started on a card table and then as the puzzles got bigger I had to get a bigger table."
She has put together more than fifty puzzles. The finished ones hang throughout her home. The puzzle she's working on now has two-thousand pieces and will take her several months to complete. She says "This one is going to take all Winter probably."
Jo has other interests including baking, knitting and golf but says she had to give up golf a couple years ago because of health issues. Mostly she says "I want to be busy all the time."
At age 98 "Jo B" as her friends call her has been recognized as the oldest resident in the Village of Farnham and the Town of Brandt. Her philosophy of life is "Work hard and have patience with a capital P."
