BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Dr. Eugene Gosy is expected to be sentenced in U.S. District Court in Buffalo, Thursday afternoon after entering guilty pleas previously for the charges of "Health Care Fraud" and "Unlawfully Conspiring to Distribute Controlled Substances" over a 10-year period.

Prior to Dr. Gosy's sentencing, several family members, doctors, and community members offered letters of support for the Williamsville physician.

Despite the great number of people his work has impacted, and the incredible bravery it took to establish a life in a new country, dad has always reflected and continues to instill a strong sense of humility in my sister and me. He has never found himself to be better than another, despite intellectual and professional successes. He has never been boastful or haughty, and his life's work is propelled by his deep, sincere care for humanity, and this is something I will always cherish.

Perhaps, rather than jail time, Dr. Gosy's sentence could be one of a strict work supervision in a hospital clinic or other situation where he would continue to be helping the community. I would hate to lose a valuable resource for the primary care community and the Western New York population in general.

I have dealt with criminals my entire adult life. Dr. Gosy is not one of them. Dr. Gosy is without a doubt the kindest most sincere man I have ever met. Mistakes may have been made. I am not privy to any of that. However. I can say with certainty that Dr. Gosy does not possess any criminal intent. In your sentencing please consider forgoing any incarceration or further sanctions against him. Thus, allowing him to continue caring for and improving the lives of his
patients.
