NORTH TONAWANDA, NY (WKBW-TV) — Amy Berent and her husband Jay know what makes a great comic book store. They own Pulp 716 Coffee and Comics. They have one store on Webster Street in North Tonawanda and another one in Lockport.

Pulp 716 has just been nominated for an international award. The Eisner Award according to Amy is like the Golden Globe of the comic book store world. She adds "It's called the 'Spirit Of Comics'. They like to focus on the deeds that you do at your shop, and how you like to portray the spirit of comics to your customers."

The store has also had a couple of shout outs in actual comic books. Local comic book writer Stephanie Philips wrote Amy into one of her stories. Amy says "she actually drew me into the comic." And in another comic book one of the characters is holding a Bubble Tea that has the Pulp 716 logo.

Amy says there is no word on when the Eisner Award winner will be declared but she adds "it's humbling to know that the creators appreciate us that much when we really just love comics."
