SANBORN, N.Y. (WKBW) — The principal at Niagara Wheatfield High School has been placed on administrative leave Thursday, according to the district's website. This comes on the heels of Wednesday night's school board meeting where several parents and student called for the resignation of the principal over the handling of a rape investigation that occurred off of school grounds last year.

Principal Michael Mann will continue on leave "pending the findings of an outside, independent investigation," the message on the district's website read.

Last Thursday, the district said a student pleaded guilty last week in a "criminal matter" that took place off school grounds last year involving two of its high school students and says the district "was just informed" of the student's court plea but didn’t elaborate further on the case. The next day, that student was kicked out of school.
