NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WKBW) — Niagara Falls police say they have made an arrest in connection with a string of burglaries in the DeVeaux area of the city.

According to police, 22-year-old Eriq Santiago of Niagara Falls was taken into custody just before midnight Wednesday, he was riding a bike on Main Street when an officer stopped him and confirmed his identity.

Falls police say they were able to match a fingerprint from one of the burglaries to Santiago and witnesses confirmed his identity.

Police are in the process of tracking down witnesses and victims to at least 15 incidents, nine of which have occurred since July 4th, to confirm Santiago as the suspect.

In each incident, the suspect took nothing and seemed to hang around until discovered, and almost all of the residents of the homes were women.

A 21-year-old witness says after fleeing her home, Santiago returned and yelled, "let me in the house! I see girls in there."

Santiago is being charged with burglary in the second degree, criminal mischief in the third degree, petit larceny and criminal trespass.
