WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKBW) — Another American soldier has received the nation's most prestigious military decoration. And at that ceremony, fellow Medal of Honor recipient David Bellavia got another honor: President Trump's "vote."

Staff Sergeant Bellavia was in attendance Wednesday as Army Special Forces Master Sgt. Matthew O. Williams received the medal from the President. As President Trump introduced Bellavia, he said "I heard you maybe are gonna be running for office, but someday I know, huh?"

"I'll tell ya, boy I'll tell ya what, he has my vote," Trump continued. "We'll have a brave politician for a change, right?"

Ten days prior, Bellavia stated that he would not be running for office, citing a new responsibility to the Army.

Bellavia ran for Congress in 2012, and lost the Republican Primary to Chris Collins.
