CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WKBW) — A 28-year-old Buffalo man was sentenced Friday for the road rage incident in Cheektowaga in December 2018 where he brutally beat another man 20-30 times according to police.

The Erie County District Attorney's Office announced Friday 28-year-old Rakeem Scott was sentenced to 364 days in jail. On the afternoon of December 19th, 2018 41-year-old Matthew Rudy was driving on Walden Avenue near Chick-fil-A, police say he was cut off by Scott in the left lane and Scott then slammed on his brakes, got out of the car and punched Rudy in the face through the window.

According to the police report, witnesses said Scott then grabbed Rudy around the chest area and violently slammed him head-first into the median and repeatedly punched his face and head. He was transported to ECMC for surgery.

Scott fled the scene and was arrested after a two-day investigation.

Less than an hour before the attack the Rudy family participated in a shop with a cop event with Cheektowaga Police at Target.

Scott pleaded guilty to one count of assault in the third degree in August 2019.
