BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Batavia man arrested on rape and criminal sex act charges in November now faces federal charges.
23-year-old Guillermo Torres-Acevedo has been charged with transporting a minor across state lines for sex, according to the United States Attorney James P. Kennedy Jr.
In November 2018, a surveillance video from Byron Bergen Junior/Senior High School showed a 14-year-old girl exiting a school bus and entering Torres-Acevedo's vehicle
The girl and Torres-Acevedo had previously been romantically involved.
An Amber Alert was issued as a result.
Torres-Acevedo and the 14-year-old were located by Pennsylvania State Police in the parking lot of a retail store.
The charges of transporting a minor across state lines for sex carry a minimum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
