LOCKPORT, NY (WKBW-TV) — He had his first one-man art show in second grade. Russell Ram remembers "The teacher took my work and put it in the corridor at School 71". Then his teacher contacted the local newspaper. He says "The newspaper did a review of my work when I was eight years old."

Russell's current show fills the beautiful Kenan Center House Gallery. It features a half century of his work. According to the guest curator
Dr. Gerald Mead "Russell's name is synonymous with collage."

There are more than a hundred pieces represented here. Much of his collage artistry is on display as well as his early work. A charcoal self portrait from his college days features the artist wearing bell bottoms and a headband.

The artist says he was mostly influenced by a UB College professor, Seymour Drumlevitch and the fact that he likes to collect things, saying "I collect all kinds of things." Those things are then transformed into amazing works of art.

The show runs through November 15th, reservations for visits are required. There is more information on the Kenan Center website.
