BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — One resident on the skilled nursing floor, at Fox Run in Orchard Park, has tested positive for coronavirus.

Michelle Murtha-Kraus, the Health Center Administrator, tells 7 Eyewitness News "When we got the case, we contacted the Department of Health. We're following all the guidelines for COVID-19 and we are in touch with the Department of Health daily."

The patient is showing "minimal symptoms" and is doing well, according to Murtha-Kraus. They are on the second floor of the facility. The administrator says residents on that floor are being told to shelter in their rooms. The person who tested positive is quarantined in their room.

"We are in touch with families and residents, trying to over-communicate," Murtha-Kraus said. They are monitoring the health of residents during each shift.

A concerned resident's family told 7 Eyewitness News, each resident found out through a letter in their mailbox.

"The letter says the person is isolated in a private room and efforts to disinfect have been stepped up," that resident's family member said.

Fox Run has plenty of personal protection equipment to protect staff and residents, Murtha-Kraus said. She said the facility had a delivery of masks on Sunday.

Administrators are working to figure out who the patient may have come in contact with and how they contracted the virus.

There is zero visitation at the facility. There is a daily health screening for staff and residents.
