NORTH BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Christmas shopping is different this year for the Jacobsen family. The family of 11 lost it's South Buffalo home and nearly everything it owned in a November fireon Woodside Avenue.

The Buffalo Police Department treated the family to a holiday shopping spree at Target on Wednesday night, helping the Jacobsen family recover some essentials they've lost and pick out presents to fill the tree in the home they're renting.

"I think it's just great for the kids to be able to have an opportunity to not have to worry about everything that's gone on and everything that they've lost and just focus on, you know, the joy of the season," mother Alicia Jacobsen said.

Carts were filled to the brim with toys for the younger kids, and everything from books to basketballs for the teens.

While there are some things that can never be replaced, like the lost family photos, this Christmas brings an opportunity to take new ones.

"It's nice to just be able to celebrate the holidays and be together as a family, that's the most important," said father Anthony Jacobsen.
