HMABURG, N.Y. (WKBW) — Organizers from the Fairgrounds Festival of Lights announced an additional entrance will be open on Fridays and Saturdays in an effort to ease congestion on the surrounding roads.

The McKinley Parkway entrance (closest to Quinby Drive) will be open on Fridays and Saturdays in addition to the South Park entrance.

Sunday through Thursday patrons can use the South Park and Quinby entrances.

Officials recommend you arrive early on Fridays and Saturdays to avoid long wait times, last weekend wait times of two to three hours were reported. Organizers say some families have brought snacks, beverages and board games to play in the car while waiting and going through the festival.

The Fairgrounds Festival of Lights runs each night through December 23 and December 26-31.

Tickets must be purchased in advance at Top's Friendly Markets or online here.

A contactless food drive will be held Friday, December 11 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Festival of Lights.

You can bring your non perishable food items and they will be collected right from your vehicle when you arrive at the gate. Read more here.
