HAMBURG, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Fairgrounds Festival of Lights has teamed up with FeedMore WNY and WKBW 7 Eyewitness News to "Shine a Light on Hunger" this holiday season.

A contactless food drive will be held Friday, December 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Festival of Lights.

You can bring your non perishable food items and they will be collected right from your vehicle when you arrive at the gate.

There will be a limited number of gifts available from Tops Friendly Markets, Upstate Farms, Milk for Health and US Foods to those who make donations.

To donate during the 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. hours, head to the front of the Carousel Banquet Facility. Head straight in from the South Park entrance to the building with the Buffalo Raceway sign. During the evening, when the Festival of Lights is open, you can drop off directly from your vehicle when you arrive at the gate to drive through.

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to an increased need for food assistance.

“Many of our vulnerable community members experience an increase in need for food assistance during the holiday season. This year, thousands more neighbors are relying on FeedMore WNY for nutritious food due to the pandemic. In fact, as many as one in six individuals in FeedMore WNY’s four-county service area may be struggling with hunger due to the COVID-19 health crisis,” Tara A. Ellis, President and CEO of FeedMore WNY, said, “we are grateful to our partners at the Hamburg Fairgrounds for holding the ‘Shine a Light on Hunger’ food drive. We encourage the Western New York community to support this event and help lift up their less fortunate neighbors during this season of giving.”

The Fairground Festival of Lights is a 50 acre drive-thru with over 70 displays. For more information on the Festival of Lights click here.
