Erie County man arrested after multi-county investigation into series of sex offenses

DARIEN, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Genesee County Sheriff's Office announced an Erie County man has been arrested following an investigation into a series of sex offenses in Genesee, Wyoming and Erie Counties.

Officials say 35-year-old Nicholas B. Turnquist of West Falls was arraigned in Darien Town Court on a first degree rape charge Wednesday, the rape allegedly occurred at Darien Lake in August 2014.

Turnquist was ordered to be held without bail and returned to the Wyoming County Jail where he is being held on related charges. The Wyoming County Sheriff's Office announced he was arrested and accused of sexually assaulting a child in April 2020.

The Erie County District Attorney's Office announced Turnquist was also arraigned Wednesday on three counts of rape in the first degree.

The district attorney's office says Turnquist allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse with a child victim by forcible compulsion at three locations in the Town of Aurora. One location between December 2012 and June 2013, a second location between August 2013 and November 2015 and a third location between December 2015 and January 2017.

Turnquist is scheduled to appear in Genesee County Court at a later date, he is due back in Erie County Court October 26.

He faces the following charges:

Genesee County - first degree rape.
Wyoming County - predatory sexual assault against a child.
Erie County - three counts of first degree rape.

The district attorney's office says if convicted on all charges in Erie County, Turnquist faces up to 75 years in prison.
