BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — When Matt and Nicole Martin got engaged last year, they decided to show the "Buffalove." The two settled on the Queen City as a location and theme for their wedding.

"From that moment on we said - what can we do Buffalo related?" explained Nicole.

The answer was everything they could. Neither Matt nor Nicole is from Western New York, but they moved here, and it became home to them. They decided their loved ones needed to see exactly how they felt about their hometown.

"Not a lot of our family had been out here. So we really wanted to make it an opportunity for them to see what we fell in love with, and why we love Buffalo," she said.

Their rehearsal dinner kicked things off. The couple organized a guided tour of Buffalo for family and friends, which was followed by a beef on weck dinner. The wedding itself had all the Buffalo flare they could come up with, including a cake made by Sweet Beginnings Bakery that guests couldn't look away from. Nicole had seen it at a bridal show, and decided she had to have it for her big day.

"I immediately took a picture, and sent it to Matt, and said I found our wedding cake as long are you're ok with it. And he texted back in capital letters - yes!" she laughed. "There was celery, blue cheese, chicken wings, cheerios, a beef on weck, a buttered lamb, the Buffalo skyline in red white and blue."

Matt dressed traditionally for the wedding itself, but had a Bills suit coat to change into at the reception. He also got a special surprise from Nicole, when rapper Rex Rhymin' showed up to perform his famous Bills song.

"Rex Rhymin was a huge hit, that was awesome!" said Matt. "Besides marrying her, obviously!" he laughed.

For Nicole and Matt, the July wedding was the perfect way to celebrate their love, and the love they have for their home.

"We wanted to show everybody the unique aspects of Buffalo. And show them this is what we're about, this is what we like," said Matt.

"I think now they understand why we love it so much out here," echoed Nicole.
