BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Pizzerias all across Buffalo are stepping up to the plate in the fight against COVID-19. On Saturday, La Nova provided enough pizza to feed the entire ECMC staff. And the tour isn't done.

"They're risking their lives and this is the least that we can do for the community," La Nova vice president Carla Todaro-Pantano said. "The nurses and doctors working around the clock, the aides, just showing our appreciation."

La Nova has a donation lined up with Millard Filmore and is in the works with Roswell Park. Imperial Pizza, on the other hand, has made itself a regular at South Buffalo Mercy with two dozen pies a day.

"They're on the front lines dealing with this every day," Imperial Pizza manager Joe Matte said. "Just to keep the spirits up, just a small thing to do. Maybe someone can do a small thing for someone else, and maybe we can win this battle sooner."

Matte added that the support and business of the rest of the community is a part of what enables them to regularly provide for the staff at Mercy Hospital. Both Imperial Pizza and La Nova have shown what it means to be Buffalo Strong.
