BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Right now, more than ever, our neighbors in Western New York are in need as our communities navigate the coronavirus outbreak and the financial distress it has brought to so many families.
At 7 Eyewitness News, we're teaming up with Retro Buffalo to help FeedMore WNY serve more than 135,000 people who rely on its services.
Families are in need.
FeedMore WNY (formerly the Food Bank of WNY and Meals on Wheels of WNY) is working tirelessly to fill the urgent need for additional food, funds and volunteers as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. FeedMore WNY has seen 500 more clients sign up for home-delivered meals since COVID-19 appeared in our community.
Right now in Western New York, local children are out of school, and some have lost the stability of school lunches as a result. In addition, their parents and caregivers may be losing their jobs or losing hours at work. There is an urgent need to help these families.
Here's how you can help.
Starting now, $7 (100% of the proceeds) from each #BuffaloStrong shirt sale at retrobuffalo.com will go directly to FeedMore WNY. The design is available as a t-shirt, a women's v-neck, a tank top, and a hooded sweatshirt. Shirts are also available through Chiavetta's and at all four Dash's locations in Western New York.
There are plenty of other ways to help FeedMore WNY! Here are some ways to get involved:
- #Give7 hours packing emergency food boxes or delivering meals to homebound neighbors with FeedMore WNY.
- #Give7 dollars directly to FeedMore WNY to help provide meals for food-insecure people in our community.
- Spread the word by sharing a picture or video of support on social media. Be sure to use #BuffaloStrong and #Give7.
If you or someone you know is in need of food assistance, you can contact FeedMore WNY at (716) 822-2002 or visit feedmorewny.org.
Together, we are #BuffaloStrong.
