BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — We introduced you this weekend to a group of young people making sure all Western New Yorkers are being taken care of.

They call themselves the Neighborhood Heroes.

They're all part of the organization Candles in the Sun.

And on Saturday they were in Lackawanna handing out lunches and masks to anyone who needed them.

It's just one of the many things they've been doing to help our community.

This video from about a week and a half ago made the rounds on Facebook.

The heroes out on the streets - handing out one thousand masks and gloves in downtown Buffalo.

"Everyone is requiring masks, everyone is requiring gloves right now - but everyone doesn't have access to them," said Candles in the S.U.N. organizer Dakari Singletary. "Everyone doesn't have monetary access or just supply access. So we wanted to cut that need and be able to not have people miss out or not be able to go to the store or anything like that. Everyone needs to get what they need to survive."

Singletary says you're going to see more events like these - spearheaded by these young heroes.
