Buffalo police investigating three Monday shootings

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Buffalo police are investigating three reported shootings that occurred in less than a two hour span Monday evening.

Police say around 5:15 p.m. a 32-year-old man arrived at ECMC in a civilian vehicle with a gunshot wound to his arm. The shooting occurred on the first block of Sweeney Street according to detectives. The victim was treated and released.

The second reported shooting occurred around 6:15 p.m. when a 20-year-old man was grazed by gunfire on the 1200 block of Bailey Avenue. Police say he was initially listed in stable condition at Mercy Hospital.

The third reported shooting occurred around 6:45 p.m. when a 20-year-old Buffalo man arrived at ECMC in a civilian vehicle. The victim was initially listed in serious condition. Police are investigating if the shooting occurred in the area of Genesee Street and Goodyear Avenue.

Police say the three shootings appear targeted.

Since June 1 there have been more than 50 shootings in the City of Buffalo.

“Absolutely disturbing. I mean it’s uncalled for. It’s unnecessary,” Buffalo Police Captain Jeff Rinaldo said in a phone interview with 7 Eyewitness News Monday.
