BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Buffalo common council member Richard Fontana (Lovejoy) is looking to beef up Buffalo's ATV laws to stop their use in the city.

"Go buy some land in the country, go to Wellsville, but don't be down here in Buffalo with these ATVs" Fontana said.

Fontana is hoping to increase the length of time that an ATV would get impounded for, and also increase the fines for driving an ATV to as much as $750 for repeat offenders.

"If we do take one (an ATV) we're going to hold on to it for quite sometime," Fontana said, "They're not getting it back all summer."

This comes less than two weeks after two Buffalo police officers were injured by an ATV. Proposed on Tuesday, the hope is this will be included in the law by July.
