BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio has concluded his investigation or "Apostolic Visitation" into the Buffalo Diocese.
According to a Diocese spokesperson, Bishop DiMarzio made three trips in total to Buffalo, during which time he interviewed 80 people, both clergy and lay people. This investigation was requested earlier this month by the Holy See.
Moving forward, Bishop DiMarzio will prepare a formal report that will be submitted to the Holy See. At this point there is no timetable on when that report will be submitted.
The investigation was launched in the wake of several sex abuse allegations directed at the Buffalo Diocese and how Buffalo Bishop Richard Malone has dealt with those accusations.
