GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WKBW-TV) — When you pick up a four pound axe you better know what you're doing. That's not an issue for Stephanie Foster and Ashly Thompson, owners of the newly opened Grand Throw House on Grand Island.

Stephanie and Ashly got hooked on axe throwing and met on the tournament circuit. They say that throwing axes and hatchets at a taget is "exciting, stress relieving and community building."

There is a bit of a learning curve when it comes to hurling an axe into a target. Stephanie says all the newbies "will be coached by an employee."

The Grand Throw House is part of the growing sport of axe throwing that has been sweeping North America and showing up world-wide.

There are five lanes at the Grand Throw house, but as Ashly points out, during COVID they will only use three lanes to keep people spread out and to stay safe.

Grand Throw House is at 361 Lang Blvd. Grand Island, NY 14072. You can find them on Facebook and get more information at their website.
