SPRINGVILLE, N.Y. (WKBW) — An 87-year-old man was arraigned Friday in connection with the death of a man at a Springville Flea Market in June 2019.

Frank Cartonia, 87, of Williamsville, was in Springville court Friday and pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of reckless endangerment in the second degree for causing the death of 63-year-old Howard Weiss of Buffalo.

Weiss was struck and killed by an SUV operated by Cartonia in the parking lot of Gentner Commission Market in Springville in late June. Three other people were injured.

The Erie County District Attorney's office says Cartonia was driving recklessly in the parking lot.

Cartonia was released without bail and is due back in court January 17th, 2020 at 9 a.m. He faces a maximum of one year in jail.
