BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The spring countdown is on! But you can still get out and enjoy some winter activities this weekend.

Backyard Classic Hockey Tournament

It'll be a great weekend to lace up your skates and hit the ice at Canalside. Hockey teams of all ages will gather downtown starting Friday. The tournament runs through Sunday.

All proceeds will support Roswell Park Cancer Research. You can find out more information here.

Buffalo Sabres vs Pittsburgh Penguins

While you're downtown, you can head across the street and watch newly-acquired Sabres defenseman Brandon Montour play against Pittsburgh. Tickets start at $32 on StubHub. Puck drops at 7 p.m. Friday.

Old First Ward Shamrock Run

Trade in the skates for this tradition. The Old First Ward will be filled with green Saturday for the 41st annual Shamrock Run.

The race starts at 12 p.m. You can find out more about the run here.

Post-Shamrock Run IRISH HOOLEY

After you run 5 miles, you can head down to The Barrel Factory. This place will be filled with thirsty runners. Doors open at 10 a.m. The Emerald Isle Band takes the stage at 2 p.m.

Pączki Day
We're two months away from Dyngus Day. But that doesn't mean you can enjoy a pączki. Get your polka on and this year's Pączki Day celebration at the Holy Mother of the Rosary Cathedral. In addition to pączki, there will be plenty of Polish food and entertainment too. Tickets cost $10 at the door. You can find more information here.

The Art of the Brick

Chances are you never saw an art exhibit like this. The Buffalo Museum of Science is getting ready to unveil "The Art of The Brick."

A fabulous, eye-catching and colorful presentation of sculptures and wall hangings--eighty pieces in all--all made from Legos Blocks.

The show runs through May 5th. You can get more info on the museum website.

Variety Kids Telethon

The Variety Kids Telethon is getting ready for its 57th go-around helping children in Western New York.

The telethon will broadcast live on 7ABC from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 3rd from the Seneca Niagara Casino. Members of the 7 Eyewitness News team will also be live at Oishei Children's Hospital.
