Jim Kelly to make 'unexpected' trip to New York City for checkup

Buffalo Bills all-time leading passer and Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly will return to New York City for an 'unexpected checkup', according to ESPN. 

Kelly is recovering from oral cancer surgery that was performed back in March. Doctors restructured his upper jaw. 

The Buffalo Bills legend told ESPN that he didn't know how long he would be in New York City. The checkup will take place during the second week of August. 

Kelly will receive the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance Wednesday night at the ESPYS. You can watch a special report on Jim Kelly right here on 7ABC starting at 7:30 p.m. The ESPYS will also air live right here on 7ABC at 8 p.m.
