BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - Every day Western New Yorkers are seizing the possible as they volunteer with Meals on Wheels and bring food to the homebound.
More than 1600 volunteers hit the streets to deliver the meals every day. Tuesday night Meals on Wheels will be honoring volunteers who've served the organization for 20 - 40 years!
One of those volunteers told us what she thinks about on her Meals on Wheels route.
"I think about all the people we served over the course of 35 years. It's got to be hundreds! I mean I can go from house to house and say that house I used to serve, that house I used to serve. I just love the people. The people in here, and the people that we serve," explained Jacqueline Jurewicz, who has volunteered for 35 years.
Meals on Wheels officials say they'll need an additional 1000 volunteers in the coming years to help with the aging population.
