Hofbrauhaus Buffalo hopes to open by September 1st

Buffalo (WKBW) - A new destination for Buffalo beer lovers may be only a couple a months away. The folks behind Hofbrauhaus Buffalo tell 7EWN that the goal is open the German beerhall by the end of the summer.

Managing Partner Kevin Townsell says that construction on the exterior of the building at 190 Scott Street in the Cobblestone District is expected to begin in the next couple of weeks and the hope is to be open by September first. The new Hofbrauhaus will employ 100 employees that will serve food and beer to the over 900 customers that can fit in the beer hall.

Hofbrauhaus Buffalo will include a brewery that will create several beers using German recipes. Equipment that will be used to make the beer arrived from Austria earlier this week. "It's kind of symbolic." said Townsell. "It's a milepost for us. We hope that we are within a couple of months of being ready to go"

If everything goes well, Hofbrauhaus is hoping to expand and include a hotel and banquet hall.
