A meeting on the growing heroin/opioid abuse epidemic is being held at Buffalo's North Park Theatre Thursday night.

Organizers say the meeting will look at "real solutions" to what's become such a problem across Western New York and the nation.  Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, U.S. Attorney William Hochul, and Delaware District Common Council Member Joel Feroleto will be at the event.

Speaking out will be Avi and Julie Israel, who lost their son Michael to addiction. Michael became addicted to painkillers that were prescribed to him for Crohn's Disease, and the Israels say all too often that's how addictions start. They started an organization called "Save The Michaels of the World" to try and talk to the community about opioid addiction.
