Governor Cuomo to sign minimum wage bill

On Monday Governor Cuomo will sign the minimum wage and paid family leave bills which passed in the 2016-2017 state budget on Friday.

Cuomo is holding a victory celebration today in Manhattan where Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will be in attendance.

Monday's rally will celebrate the minimum wage hike and paid family leave. Minimum wage downstate will rise to $15 an hour by the end of 2018. Throughout the rest of the state minimum wage will be $12.50 by 2020.

According to the governor's website lawmakers were able to maintain 2% growth in the budget bringing the overall total to $96.2 billion.

Spending on school aid hit a record with $24.8 allocated, $4.2 billion in middle class tax cuts and $55 billion to improve state transportation.

Monday's rally is at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in Manhattan. Labor leaders, advocates and minimum wage workers will be in attendance.
