Frank Mesiah dies at the age of 89

A power house in the Western New York African-American community has died.

Frank Mesiah, who served for more than two decades as president of the Buffalo NAACP, was 89 years old.

There is no word on exactly how he died.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown issued this statement on Mesiah's passing:

"My prayers & condolences are with the family of Frank Mesiah, who served the community for more than two decades as President of the Buffalo NAACP. The positive impact he made on the city of Buffalo will never be forgotten."

There is currently no word on when services will take place.
