In Ellicottville the answer to "where's the beef?" is Dom's Butcher Block. Ken Auteri and his son Tyler opened the shop 6 years ago and named it after Tyler's grandfather Dom.
While it may look like a typical butcher shop that offers up various cuts of meat, the real secret to their success is a couple of smokers in the back room. With those they are able to turn out meaty delights like smoked sausages, meat sticks and beef jerky.
The ability to smoke meats has allowed this father and son business to avoid waste. Ken says "if we didn't have our smoked meats we probably wouldn't still be in business, our smoked meats save us from lost product."
Their smoked products have caught on with the customers. "We do (sell) more smoked in a day sometimes tan we do fresh meat." says owner Ken Auteri.
