Families find savings in factory-built homes

"I saw my kitchen go around on the crane before it was put on the foundation, Grandin said. "I go whoops there's my stove."

Robin Grandin bought property in Silver Creek in 2007. Three years later, she and her husband decided to turn that property into the American dream by buying a factory-built home. 

Everything was installed at a factory after choosing the designs and finishes.

"If there's in climate weather you have a better chance of making sure that your building is going to be of quality," she said.

The home was then transported to the site and installed on the foundation. 

The price was significantly lower in cost than other builders. Gradin says about $25,000 less than other builders.

A brand new home complete with a basement for just over $200,000 plus the cost for the property to put it on.

That compares to almost $286,175 that homeadvisor.com says it costs on average to build a 2,000 square-foot home from the ground up.

From start to finish, Grandin and her husband moved in within six months of picking out their American dream.
