Western New York politicians call for additional USPS funding

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WKBW) — Several Western New York politicians are calling for an additional $25 billion for the United States Postal Service in Niagara Falls and Amherst.

Rep. Brian Higgins (D-N.Y.) will be joined by the Lori Cash, President of the American Postal Workers Union WNY Area Local 183, Doug Fordyce of the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 3, and several post office workers in Niagara Falls, Tuesday afternoon.

This event coincides with several other #SaveThePostOffice Day of Action rallies across the country including in Amherst.

Participants are calling for the following

  • For at least $25 billion in immediate support for the Postal Service
  • To stop & reverse the mail slowdown policies introduced by Postmaster General DeJoy

The events are happening at the Niagara Falls Main Post Office at 615 Main Street at 2 p.m., while the Amherst event will be at the Amherst Post Office at 5500 North Bailey Avenue at 6 p.m.
