BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Associated Press has called victory for Congressman Brian Higgins in New York’s 26th Congressional District, a seat to which he was first elected in 2004.

Higgins, a Democrat, ran against Republican challenger Ricky Donovan Sr. Donovan is a retired corrections officer and a veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard.

In an interview with 7 Eyewitness News reporter Ali Touhey last month, Higgins said if re-elected, he would push the U.S. Senate to act on an infrastructure bill that would include funding to replace the Scajaquada Expressway in Buffalo and tear down the Skyway.
