BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — One of Erie County's top law enforcers is set to retire after nearly three decades of service.
Undersheriff Mark Wipperman will step down August 7th.
He has served a number of local agencies over his nearly 30 year career.
The announcement of his retirement comes just days after a report from the county comptroller showed Wipperman made $46,538 in overtime since March through the federal CARES Act because of COVID-19 response.
That's on top of Wipperman's annual salary of $136,288.
The overtime will increase his pension because it is applied toward the three highest years of service.
Chief of administration John Greenan will succeed Wipperman.
