BUFFALO — A Western New York staple is temporarily closing as the area continues to cope with COVID-19.

Chef's Restaurant has announced that both the Buffalo location, and the Chef's On The Go in Amherst, will close effective Saturday April 4th.

The Billitier Family, which owns Chef's, says the decision was made as a matter of employee safety.

"We can no longer watch our employees take a chance on their own health. There is more to life than money", said the family in a statement. "As much as we have had an unbelievable outpouring of support from our beautiful customers, we cannot put our operations in front of the safety of our staff."

Chef's will reevaluate when to reopen on May 1st and a make a decision as to "when it is once again safe for all of our staff and customers to resume normal business".
