Buffalo man now admits he used gas line, candle to blow up own home

Posted

A 72-year-old Buffalo man could face up to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to three counts of arson and one count of reckless endangerment.

Prosecutors say Santo Cok caused an explosion at his own Covington Avenue home on April 19, 2018. Cok disconnected a gas line and used a candle to start the explosion. A witness who spoke to 7 Eyewitness News that morning recalled seeing Cok walking "right through the burning debris." He was not hurt in the explosion. In addition to destroying his own home, two neighboring homes were also damaged.

Cok is being held without bail until his sentencing date, scheduled for January 9, 2019. He faces up to 15 years in prison.
