Good Shepherd Temple Church is one of the many organizations who fell victim to the grant scam run by Christina Gordon. Gordon had fooled the church into believing they had received enough funds for a new roof, and the church's pastor had no reason to believe she was lying.

"She sounded like it was going to happen, and it never did" Pastor Elzie Fisher said.

Feeling confident in Gordon, Fisher hired a construction company to begin replacing the dilapidated roof on top of the church. The company was halfway through the roof when they learned the money was not coming, so Fisher has 50% of a complete roof and no funds to finish it.

"I needed (the grant) badly to get the roof done."

To help out, local churches are stepping in. True Bethel Baptist Church has been raising funds for Good Shepherd and on Thursday, March 22nd a service will be held at Good Shepherd to raise money for a new roof.

"It becomes our responsibility to help them because they weren't scamming, they were scammed" True Bethel Pastor Darius Pridgen said.

For those who are looking to help Good Shepherd Temple Church donations can be sent to PO Box 22 Buffalo, NY, 14205.
