Breakfast is a big deal for this group of guys. Tony Mikulec, Norm Hornung and Don Greco have been sharing breakfast once a week for the last eight years. Today they are celebrating their 300th breakfasts.
This breakfast is at the scenic and secluded River Spring Lodge in Darien Center. This breakfast includes a couple things they haven't had for their first two hundred ninety-nine breakfasts-their wives and champagne.
Usually the meal itself is pretty typical-they love finding homemade hash. But Norm says "only a few places have homemade hash."
Shirley Barone's husband Robert passed away last year, he was the one who started this group "because he loved breakfast, it was his favorite meal of the day."
Eight years and three-hundred breakfasts has inspired the wives to start their own group. According to Beth, Norm's wife-they are "going to Betty's next week for their first meeting."
They finished up their meal with a toast from Don saying "here's to our four hundredth breakfast."
