One thousand “baby bundles” were packed and sorted for at-risk moms and their babies Thursday.

Volunteers filled the bundles with essential items any mother would need: diapers, digital thermometers, baby board books and more.

Organizers call it a Community Baby Shower.  It was created in 2012 and has supported more than 3,000 young families living below the poverty line.

The United Way of Buffalo Erie County started the event as a way to provide babies with a stronger start in life.
