Della is the newest resident at the Aquarium of Niagara. She is a gray seal and just arrived from the Brookfield Zoo in Chicago.

Della is 27-years-old and has cataracts, which means she is completely blind. She's getting used to her new surroundings, her new friends, Sandy and Pepper, also seals, and her trainer Tammy Weber.

Weber said, "We have developed a great relationship. She's currently one of my favorite animals here."

Della's disability has created some special challenges for her trainer. "The target pole is like her walking stick when I want her to go somewhere I'll guide her with it," Weber explained.

The seals and the sea lions at the Aquarium are deemed "non-releasable." They have found a permanent home there.

All of the marine animals at the aquarium are rescue animals. You can find more information at their website.
