Diane Sullivan has been a high school music teacher for 39 years, but she has only had 15 birthdays. That's because she was born on February 29th. Since Diane was born in a leap year, and on a date that only comes around every four years, technically she has had only a total of fifteen birthdays.
Diane says "sometimes my brain feels like I'm 15 years old, but I don't think my knees feel it."
She says she can remember her actual 15th birthday when she was still in high school and involved in the school musical. These days she is busy directing her 21st musical at Depew High School. This year's production THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE opens March 11th.
Diane admits that leap year birthdays garner a little extra attention so she has never felt cheated. The fountain of youth for Diane Sullivan is not in having fewer birthdays than everyone else, she thinks it's in doing what she loves "I love it, it's great being with the kids."
