Police have released an update on the 3-year-old girl attacked by her 28-year-old caretaker on Tuesday.

The child underwent surgery for a severe brain injury yesterday at Buffalo Oishei Children's Hospital. She is currently listed in "guarded but stable" condition.

Jamestown Police say they were called to a home on Clyde Avenue Tuesday morning after the little girl was unresponsive.

Police believe 28-year-old Joshua Berg hit the little girl on the head, causing the injury.

They say there was a strong odor of marijuana in the home when EMS and police arrived.

Berg has been charged with felony assault. He is currently being held in the county jail.
