BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A North Tonawanda man who burglarized the same church twice was sentenced to 12 years to life behind bars.

The Erie County District Attorney's Office says that 40-year-old Robert Wasyl admitted he attempted to burglarize the rectory at St. Timothy’s Church on East Park Drive back in 2017.

The priest who resides in the rectory awoke to a man in his bedroom.

Police say Wasyl stole money and a watch before fleeing.

Wasyl was convicted of burglarizing the same church rectory ten years earlier.

He pleaded guilty to one count of attempted burglary in October 2018.
